• SWEDISH MASSAGE

Swedish massage uses the power of touch to move clients into a state of total relaxation. Therapists locate areas of tension and use different techniques to enable these areas to relax. Swedish massage is a combination of long flowing strokes, kneading, and friction on the superficial layers of muscle tissue.

Swedish massage is relaxing and invigorating. It increases the oxygen flow in the blood, releases toxins from the muscles, and reduces stress. All Chester County Therapeutic Massage therapists have a background in Swedish-based massage, blended with other techniques.
  • THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE

Therapeutic massage is similar to Swedish massage; however firm pressure is used and focuses on areas of discomfort.  Therapeutic massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load, and stimulates the skin and nervous system. It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is recommended in a regular program for stress management. All Chester County Therapeutic Massage therapists have a Therapeutic-based massage background and use a combination of techniques to alleviate stress.

  • DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

Deep-tissue massage goes beneath the surface, into your muscle fiber, which the therapist works on with knuckles and elbows to relieve tension. Deep-tissue massage is used to help relieve prolonged stress in the body.

    BENEFITS INCLUDE:

    • improve posture
    • increase range of motion in muscles and joints
    • release tension
    • reduce stress

    • increase circulation and the oxygenation of tissue
  • TRIGGER POINT THERAPY

Trigger point therapy is used to relieve muscular pain and dysfunction through applied pressure to trigger points — localized, sensitive tissue areas — and stretching exercises. Putting pressure on these points refers pain to other parts of the body. As trigger points are deactivated, the muscle tissue improves form and function.

    BENEFITS INCLUDE:

    • Calms the nervous system and promotes a sense of relaxation and well-being.
    • Reduces tension and anxiety.

  • MYOFASCIAL RELEASE (MFR)

MFR is an interactive stretching technique that provides maximum relaxation to tense tissues. Fascia, or connective tissue surrounding and penetrating every tissue and organ of the body, may stick to muscle, causing pain and/or dysfunction. Gentle pressure and traction create fascial release. The therapist determines the direction, force, and duration of the stretch based on feedback from the client’s body. Efficient posture and movement are goals of this treatment. Chester County Therapeutic Massage therapists do not perform full MFR sessions, but do incorporate it into their massages.

The primary goal of myofascial release is to eliminate restrictions.
